Some events get better with age, including the Tempe Town Lake Festival featuring Tempe’s 63rd annual fireworks display over Tempe Town Lake on July 4. Tempe’s fireworks, shot from the Mill Street Bridge, may not be the prettiest or biggest in the valley on this evening, but it is hard to beat the location. Nearby buildings and bridges strung with colorful lights reflecting in the water — plus the array of decorated and lit-up boats floating on the lake — only add to the beauty of the evening. Thousands of people line the lakeshore or kick back on the grassy “beach” in anticipation, while others take in the many festival attractions, including live music, splash park, climbing wall, and numerous culinary delights.
The fireworks start half an hour past dark at approximately 9:15 p.m. Friday, July 4 during the Tempe Town Lake Festival, 620 North Mill Avenue. It’s all free. Visit www.tempe4th.com.
