Here in the Southwest, our love of tacos is serious — festival serious. The Arizona Taco Festival is back and bigger than ever with taco tastings from more than 30 competing restaurants, a tequila expo, cooking classes from local chefs, themed photo booths, pop up bars, and live music from acts like The Coconauts, Bitch Automatic, Pride Through Strife, and Grupo Son Kim-K.

There will also be plenty of chances to take your love of tacos to the stage with such challenges as arm wrestling for tacos, hot chili pepper-eating contests, best sombrero contests, taco-eating contests, and a Chihuahua beauty pageant. Let’s see your other food celebrations top that.

The Arizona Taco Festival returns to Salt River Fields, 7555 North Pima Road in Scottsdale, Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20. Eating hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with ticket prices ranging from $12 to $100. For more information, visit www.aztacofestival.com or call 480-466-0579.

Sat., Oct. 19, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sun., Oct. 20, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., 2013
