Vampires are the new ninjas. New pirates? No, wait, they’re the new zombies, right?
However vampires rank in the whole ninja/pirate/undead craze of these past few years, it’s clear they’ve established their place in today’s pop culture. With the success of the Twilight book series and television shows like True Blood, it’s no wonder Lisa Starry’s Scorpius Dance Theatre would lock on to the horror ballet A Vampire Tale.
Beginning at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, watch as the cast dances, writhes, and performs aerial feats to portray what reviewers have called “The Nutcracker of Halloween.” It’s a super-sexy story about human deaths, vampire rebirths, and a lot of bloodsucking. This – all played out in bare feet, scarvy costumes, and yards and yards of spandex – will surely titillate even the most conservative audience.
