Put your hands out in front of you, fingers spread wide, and then press each ringfinger and thumb together. There. Now you’re doing “The Pitchfork,” the official hand gesture of Sun Devil fans everywhere.

If you can hold this position until Saturday, October 1, it might just generate some extra mojo when the ASU football team takes on the Beavers of Oregon State University in their second game of Pac-12 play.

Despite winning their opening game of the season, Arizona State has had their fair share of problems, including a penalty-prone defense and failing to capitalize on a variety of scoring opportunities. Linebacker Vontaze Burfict is still blowing up plays like a sidewinder missile, however, and Brock Osweiler — the team’s 6-foot-8 giraffe of a starting quarterback — is quickly becoming the team leader the slap-happy Devils need.

They’ll also need plenty of cheering fans in the stands at Sun Devil Stadium, 500 East Veterans Way in Tempe, so bring your pitchforks and help ASU, uh…lick the Beavers.
