Governor Jan Brewer may have brought this week’s roll out of Arizona’s Medical Marijuana Act to a partial halt, but that’s not stopping today’s grand opening of the America’s first “marijuana superstore” in the Valley.
weGrow, a national retail chain that sells hydroponics equipment and marijuana growing supplies (touted by its proprietors and PR people as the “Walmart of weed“), is cutting the ribbon on its first location in the U.S. on June 1.
The 21,000-square-foot store, at 2937 West Thomas Road, will start selling all manner of grow lights, soil nutrients, and other ganja-growing gear.
The grand opening kicks off at 4:30 p.m., and will coincide with a massive “Green Rush Festival” taking place at the store, including discussion panels by medical marijuana experts and entrepreneurs, as will product demonstrations by hydroponics vendors, growing workshops for would-be Mary Jane farmers, and consultation sessions by local doctors with potential medical marijuana patients.
