If you ask wine experts, they might say that Riesling, a light-skinned grape from Germany, is the world’s best white wine grape variety. History hasn’t favored the varietal, however, earning it a bad reputation with the majority of wine drinkers as low-quality sweet wine.

On Tuesday, August 6, Lon’s at the Hermosa Inn, 5532 North Palo Cristi Road in Paradise Valley, will bring two varieties of Riesling from the slopes of Germany’s Mosel Valley to showcase in a wine tasting event. Sommelier Bill Parker will offer one- and two-ounce pours of the Dr. L Reisling, an introductory classic-style Reisling, and Dr. Loosen Red Slate Riesling, a dry wine with a spicy citrus aroma. For the night of the event only, bottles of both wines will be available for 25 percent off.

The complimentary wine tasting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, and reservations are not required. For more information call 602-955-7878 or visit www.LONs.com.
