Performance poet Jason Bayani and visual artist Casebeer couldn’t be more different in their exploration of words. Their works come together at bibliophile paradise Lawn Gnome Publishing on the evening of Saturday, July 6.

An accomplished veteran of the slam poetry circuit, Bayani’s first book Amulet, a powerful collection of poems drawn from his cultural experiences as a Filipino-American, was published in April by acclaimed independent publisher Write Bloody. Casebeer’s five-year-long documentation of real-life dialogue by any means necessary, from notebook scrawlings to Sharpie on flesh, is woven together into a stunning show worthy of a second look following its first exhibition in April.

Jason Bayani performs at Lawn Gnome Publishing in Phoenix, 905 North Fifth Street, with the shindig kicking off at 9 p.m. Casebeer’s “The Sentence Camera” will be available as a book to purchase through July 20. Admission all night is free. Visit www.facebook.com/lawngnomepublishing for more info.
