The scents of stale Old Style and white guy hang in the air. You just heard someone, for the third time today, singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” in a Harry Caray-like fashion. Some dude named Ronnie “Woo Woo” is standing outside of Chase Field chirping some inaudible and utterly annoying chant that makes you want to blast him in the goods.

Oh, crap. Now we know what’s going on. The freaking Chicago Cubs and their John Barleycorn Wrigleyville-esque frat party are back in town. Grrreeaatttt.

Who can blame Cubs fans for their giddiness? Their team is riding high in the National League Central. Ask a Cubbies fan when he’s sober (uh, when does this ever happen?) and he’ll probably admit that this is the team’s best shot in a century at taking home a World Series title. Let’s hope the Cubs fanatics are wrong, because who else would we call “lovable losers”? (Don’t answer that, Arizona Cardinals fans.)
