The holidays are here — whether you’re ready or not — and for the beer fans out there, this is a great time to partake in some festive and brew-filled events around town. So as your calendar begins to fill with work parties, traveling, and your annual (enter special interest here) tournament, be sure to leave room for any or all of these events being held at some of your favorite local breweries.
From Santa-themed bar crawls to special holiday beer releases, here are 11 don’t-miss beer events in metro Phoenix this month.
Saturday, December 12
Tempe
Don’t miss the Huss Brewing Christmas Party. This event starts at 4 p.m. and will feature Huss brews, Christmas cookies, and brewery tours.
West Valley
Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company is teaming up with PikFly, a delivery service geared toward local businesses, and will host a tap takeover at Ground Control, a gastropub located in Goodyear. PikFly will deliver eight kegs from AZWBC to the event including:

Chandler
San Tan Brewing Company will host a movie night starting at 10 p.m. This week’s movie will be A Christmas Story, and the event will feature reverse happy hour, drink specials, and popcorn.
Gilbert
Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company will host Jeff Kraus of Crepe Bar for a collaboration beer dinner. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and costs $65 per person, which includes family-style courses paired with “compare and contrast” beer offerings. Thursday, December 17
Mesa
Beer Research Institute will host a Star Wars release party. The event will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. and will celebrate the release of the brewery’s Imperial oatmeal stout. AMC Mesa Grand 24, located next to the brewery, will be showing the movie a day early, starting at 7 p.m. with the last showing at 11:30 p.m. Tickets to the movie are available at the theater’s website.
Tempe
Pedal Haus Brewery is hosting a dessert and beer pairing. This event will pair desserts with five Arizona-brewed beers including Dragoon Brewing Company’s Biere del Blanc, aged in rum barrels; Sun Up Brewing Company’s White Russian with Cinnamon; San Tan Brewing Company’s Winter Warmer; and two of Pedal Haus Brewery’s own creations. Tickets to the event cost $20 per person, but seating is limited. Call the brewery at 480-314-2337 or stop by to reserve a spot.

Tempe
Huss Brewing Company will conduct a Tap Takeover at Papago Brewing. This event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and includes Scottsdale Blonde, Rice Pudding Porter, That’ll Do IPA, and Peanut Butter Husstler Milk Stout. Giveaways will include Huss mason jars, stickers, and other goodies you’ll have to come down to see.
Saturday, December 19
Scottsdale/Phoenix
Two Brothers Tap House and Brewery and Goldwater Brewing Company are holding a Santa-themed bar crawl. Attendees are encouraged to deck themselves out in holiday garb while enjoying an afternoon of local food and beer. This event will kickoff at Two Brothers Tap House and Brewery at 1p.m. Stops will include Bad Water Brewing, Copper Leaf Gastolounge, Craft 64, and Goldwater Brewing Company. The bar crawl costs $30 per person, which includes five drink tickets — one per location — with all proceeds benefiting the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Tickets are available at Two Brothers Tap House and Brewery.

Chandler
San Tan Brewing Company will host movie night starting at 10 p.m, and the featured movie will be the modern holiday classic Elf. The event will feature reverse happy hour, drink specials, and popcorn to snack on.

Gilbert
Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company is having an ugly sweater party, which will coincide with the highly anticipated release of the brewery’s Peanut Brittle Ale.
Saturday, December 26
Phoenix
Wren House Brewing Company will host Wren Day from 11 a.m. to midnight. This event — named after a midwinter celebration best known in Ireland involving a little luck, plenty of music, and wealth of libations — will be an opportunity for locals to celebrate beautiful Arizona winters while enjoying special holiday casks and a secret holiday beer release.
