Seasoned restaurateurs Larry Foles and Guy Villavaso, owners of Roaring Fork and founders of Eddie V’s and Wildfish restaurants (the two sold the properties to Darden Restaurants Inc. last year for $59 million), have been busy lately. In March, they plan to open a Paradise Valley location of Austin’s Salty Sow. And this summer, they’re looking to introduce another restaurant from Texas to the Valley: Hopdoddy Burger Bar.

Hopdoddy, an Austin-based counter service eatery, features gourmet burgers made with hand-crafted patties of freshly ground beef (or bison, tuna, or veggies), buns baked in-house, and house made condiments along with salads, sides, shakes, and suds. Burger prices run from around five to nine dollars.

Currently, Hopdoddy has two locations in Austin, one in Dallas, and this summer, one coming to Scottsdale.

According to the Republic, the Scottsdale Hopdoddy Burger Bar will be located on Scottsdale Road, just north of Shea Boulevard, and in a former Lone Star Steakhouse.

A nonsense word, “hopdoddy,” according to the burger joint’s website, was “created to express the perfect union of burgers and beer: Handcrafted Beer (Hop) + (Doddy), the nickname given to the native cow in Aberdeen, Scotland.”
