Bloomin’ Beer Fest Book nerds and beer geeks will come together this Saturday, June 11th, to celebrate Bloomsday at The Irish Cultural Center‘s Fifth Annual Bloomin’ Beerfest. What’s Bloomsday? Technically it’s a day to commemorate Irish author James Joyce and his “challenging” novel Ulysses — but to be honest, it’s really just another excuse to drink beer. The celebration goes from 7 to 10 p.m. and features beer tastings, readings form the novel, live Irish music and standard Irish fare such as brats, fish & chips and corned beef sammies. $35 gets you in the door and earns you 16 tickets that can be used for beer and food. Tickets are only $10 at the gate for you sober folks. Visit The Irish Cultural Center for more details. Holy Cute!
We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there. An Owl Cake?! We love cake and we absolutely adore owls, so of course we are going to love this too-cute owl cake made by Caroline at Chocolate & Carrots. The best part is that hidden under that pretty blue fondant lurks a base of rice krispie treats – another favorite! Follow Chow Bella on Facebook
