In what could only be called a duo of deliciousness, famed farm owner Bob McClendon and vineyard owner and movie director Sam Pillsbury are teaming up for a one-night only dinner event at 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, (tomorrow night) at seasonal American eating establishment, Beckett’s Table.
Aptly named the Arizona Heirloom Tomato & Wine Dinner, the event will feature five courses of McClendon’s tomato-filled goodness paired with one of Pillsbury’s wines. For eats, there’s rumors of a “Not a BLT” sandwich on brioche featuring fried green tomato, roasted garlic aioli, pancetta, and frisee with tomato poleta fries; a brandywine tomato tagliatelle with house-made confit tomato & chicken sausage; and a tomato pie in a thyme parmesan crust.
Whoa.
Both McClendon and Pillsbury will be on hand to talk tastes with McClendon chatting it up about all things heirloom tomatoes, farming in Arizona, and answering questions about growing tomatoes at home.
