Giant Coffee recently opened next to Bunky Boutique off 1st Street and McDowell Road, and the menu at the coffee shop is as quaint and cute as the merchandise next door.
But in addition to scones made in-house, desserts from Tammie Coe Cakes, and tasty drinks like Honey Vanilla Lattes (tastes like Starbucks Vanilla Frappuccino, but not as sugary), there’s a potent lurker on the menu called the Smoke Jumper.
The Smoke Jumper is basically a quadruple shot of espresso, flavored with mocha, caramel, and cinnamon. It’s a dark, thick brew that opens your eyes from the first sip and will keep you awake and alert for the next several hours. If there was any doubt to the potency of the Smoke Jumper, it was erased by the time we got to the bottom of this cup, where a murky, dark sludge had coagulated.
This flavored espresso is highly recommended to kick-start one’s day, but don’t drink it if you plan on trying to sleep within the next eight hours.
