Like some other local business owners, CheddaTruck’s Nick Watts isn’t happy with Senate Bill 1062, the controversial legislation that would allow Arizona business owners to deny service to gay and lesbian consumers on religious grounds. So tonight, Watts is taking his food truck to the state Capitol to show support for the hundreds of protesters who have been gathered there since Monday.
At 6 tonight, Watts will give away 150 free cheeseburgers at the anti-SB 1062 rally that will take place at the Capitol. Watts expects to be parked in the parking lot across from the Capitol lawn — just keep an eye out for the lime green Cheddatruck.
“As a small-business owner in Arizona, I find this bill appalling on so many levels,” Watts says in a press release. “It is an embarrassment to me as a human being and an Arizona resident. What better way for me to show my support to the LGBT community — and all sane Arizonans — than to give 150 people a nice dinner while they fight for equality.”
