Looks like the vacant Beef Eaters building at 300 West Camelback Road will be getting a little Beckett in the future: Chef Justin Beckett, that is.
The 37-year-old chef-owner of Beckett’s Table and his partners, wife Michelle Beckett and Scott and Katie Stephens, will open a restaurant there in the fall.
Beckett’s new spot will join a second location of Changing Hands bookstore along with other uses for the sprawling 17,000-square-foot-space (you can read more about them here) as part of a major adaptive reuse project.

The Republic reports Beckett’s new restaurant won’t be a second location of the original, that the chef and his team are brainstorming various concepts, and that the new restaurant will include and indoor/outdoor bar, open kitchen, and weekend brunch.
Beef Eaters, the British-themed restaurant built by Jay Newton in 1961, closed in 2006, after 45 years. Vacant for seven years, its deterioration made it more or less an eyesore for passers-by, including those on the nearby light rail.
