I guess I could’ve seen this coming. Regions Bistro & Bar in Tempe has closed, reports the Trib, and the Scottsdale location has likely closed as well (hard to confirm when the phone just rings and rings . . .).
From the outset, folks were saying it was either ambitious or insane for restaurateur Pat Coughlin to open not one but two locations of a brand-new concept. The Scottsdale Regions on Shea opened in February, while its Tempe counterpart opened on Mill Avenue a month later.
Can’t say I heard positive things about the food from friends and New Times readers who visited either place, and I even got a few phonecalls from former employees eager to dish the dirt about the place — albeit anonymously.
If it turns out that Scottsdale’s Regions is actually still in business, I’ll keep you posted.
