“We apologize for any inconvenience. Please feel free to visit Szechwan Palace as well as Hong Kong Express in the market.”

That’s part of a sign on the door of the Golden Buddha at the Chinese Cultural Center in Phoenix. The restaurant, which served a Cantonese and Mandarian menu and was known for its dim sum, has recently closed along with another Chinese Cultural Center neighbor, Lao Ching Hing, which served Shanghai-style Chinese food.

Two of the four eateries in the Chinese Cultural Center shuttered? What gives?

While Lao Ching Hing’s reasons for shuttering are unclear, the closing of the Golden Buddha appears to have been landlord driven.
