Blogging is taking on a surreal quality at the moment, as I write about a uniquely named new restaurant set to open soon in Tempe (1743 E. Broadway).

Even more noteworthy is that it serves Scandinavian cuisine. Besides the cafeteria at IKEA, is there another local spot that specializes Swedish food?

And then there’s the cartoon beaver mascot — clad in a Swedish blue-and-yellow shirt and triumphantly hoisting a fork in the air — that’s an added bonus.

The menu looks huge — crepes, omelettes, and other dishes for breakfast, casual eats such as Swedish meatball sandwiches, a “Scandinavian take on hamburgers” (burger with cognac dressing? double burgers with anchovies and mustard?), entrees like pork in gin and cream sauce, and gravad lax.
