The folks at Edible Phoenix aren’t just putting out a seasonal food magazine anymore. Starting tomorrow, they’re also kicking off a monthly food-centric film festival, held at Madcap Theaters (730 S. Mill) every second Thursday to benefit the new Tempe farmers market, Market on Mill.

Edible Film Festival features the documentary film Fresh for its inaugural screening, at 8 p.m. on October 8.

Urban farmer and activist Will Allen, sustainable farmer Joel Salatin from Michael Pollan’s book The Omnivore’s Dilemma, and supermarket owner David Ball are among the people who appear in this celebration of the visionaries who are working to create a healthier, more sustainable food system in America.

Tickets are $7, and advance purchase is recommended to guarantee a seat.
