We’ve followed Lay’s to the depths of hell and back over the past few years with their “Do Us A Flavor” contests. Sure, 2013 wasn’t too terrible with Sriracha, Cheesy Garlic Bread, and Chicken & Waffles flavors, but this year has been pretty rough. That’s why news of the (mostly) actually edible sounding flavors that were released in Canada for their version of the contest added some major insult to injury.
Though last year Canada was stuck with totally weird options like Grilled Cheese & Ketchup and whatever Maple Moose is, this year flavors like Bacon Poutine (or Poutine au Bacon for the Canadiens), Tzatziki, and Jalapeno Mac & Cheese sound pretty good over here– especially after eating the repulsive Mango Salsa from this year’s U.S. contest.
True, Canadian chip eaters will have to endure the Cinnamon Bun option, but at least it will make sense why that one tastes of cinnamon, unlink our Cappuccino flavor, which tasted like cinnamon for absolutely no reason.

While the Canadian flavors were officially released yesterday, you’ll have to meander north of the border to find them. Hey, if anyone’s planning a trip to Vancouver can you bring us back some poutine chips? You know what– scratch that: We’ll stick with plain, salty, perfect, greasy potato chips from now on. We’ve learned our lesson.
