Life just got a little sweeter for pastry chef Tracy DeWitt.

The chef-instructor at Le Cordon Bleu College of the Culinary Arts (formerly known as Scottsdale Culinary Institute) just accepted her 2010 American Culinary Federation Western Region Pastry Chef of the Year award at the ACF regional gala on Monday.

DeWitt beat out two other competitors at the conference in Albuquerque for the honor, and will go up against two other regional winners for the national title at the ACF National Conference in Anaheim, California, this August.

Competition must be in her blood. She won first place on “Food Network Challenge: Extreme Candy Carnival” a year ago, got a silver medal at last year’s National Pastry Team Championship in Phoenix, and snagged the gold at the 2006 National Bread and Pastry Team Championship in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
