It sounds like things are going really well for Sima and Marcellino Verzino at their stylish new SouthBridge location of Marcellino Ristorante Italiano. The couple recently returned from a trip to Italy and are “thriving” after five months in business, they tell me.
This week, they’re amping things up with their long-awaited lunch service. Chef Marcellino’s wood-fired pizzas are on the menu, too, including smoked mozzarella with prosciutto, mushroom pizza, and a white pizza with caramelized onions and rosemary, among others.
The lunch menu features handmade pastas that’ve made the restaurant a local favorite, such as gnocchi in gorgonzola sauce, a variety of salads, and entrees like marinated pork medallions in cognac and white peppercorn sauce. They’re also offering a two-course lunch special for $22.95 that includes your choice of antipasto and secondi, plus a glass of wine.
Lunch is available daily from 11:30 a.m. 3 p.m., and pizzas and salads are served until 5 p.m.
