The banner outside says “coming soon,” but the sidewalk sign says “now open.”
Yes, Fresh Gourmet to Go is now officially open for business, and although the name implies a takeout joint, this is actually a cute cafe as well.
Located at 110 E. Roosevelt, in the building just west of Carly’s, the restaurant debuted last Friday, and is currently serving a tasty-looking lunch menu of sandwiches, wraps, and salads ($6.75 – $8), including balsamic-glazed chicken on toasted whole wheat, roast beef and cheddar with horseradish mayo on nine-grain bread, and a chopped Southwest salad with turkey, roasted corn, red pepper, tomato, red onion, feta, jicama, tortilla strips, and chipotle dressing.
Owner Eleanor Clements, who owns two other locations, says she’ll start dinner service next Tuesday, offering salads and entrees ($7.50 – $16) like zinfandel-braised beef shortribs with pea and artichoke mash, chili-and-lime-glazed salmon with white bean salsa, and macadamia-crusted chicken with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus.

Clements will also be adding a dining room window along Roosevelt, and a patio.
Business hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Dinner hours will be 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Delivery and catering are also available. Call 602-265-8646 for details.
