Folks in north Scottsdale have a new breakfast and lunch spot, family-owned Perk Eatery, which opened in December.

Owner Pauline Thomas Martinez tells me that everything’s made from scratch and sourced from as many local, organic purveyors as possible, including grass-fed Arizona beef for what she calls “a heck of a burger.” It’s a flame-broiled 8-ounce patty served on a challah roll, and is one of Perk’s most popular dishes.

Perk’s housemade corned beef is the star of the Reuben sandwich, while cage-free Hickman’s eggs are used in omelets, scrambles, and huevos rancheros. (Two eggs with slow-roasted pork also sounds good!) And for the French toast, there’s pure maple syrup on the side.

Perk Eatery is at 6501 E. Greenway Pkwy. in Scottsdale. Call 480-993-6026 for information.
