Thanks to props from Oprah, Martha, and all the culinary mags, Pizzeria Bianco’s wood-fired pies are about as famous as it gets.
But the wait at the restaurant is just as legendary. On a good night, you might wait an hour and a half, killing a bottle or two at Bar Bianco and nibbling on cheese until your table’s ready. When things are backed up, don’t be surprised to hear statuesque Susan Pool say it’ll be a good four hours or so until you’ll be fed. Oh, the hunger pangs!
However, some lucky soul is about to skip all of that and get a private lunch for eight people at the downtown hotspot. First thing this morning, the Phoenix Public Market opened up silent auction bidding for the special experience, as part of its grand opening fundraising efforts (the market’s Urban Grocery is due to open next week). Other auction items include a cooking class at Les Gourmettes and CSA membership with Maya’s Farm, and bidding continues through October 28.
