George and Laura Duerr already have countless celebrities and private clients in their Rolodex from 13 years of special event and wedding planning for their company Ashley Manor in Chandler. Now, they’ve gone into the restaurant biz, in a completely different part of town.
Their new grill and smokehouse, Cody’s, just opened its doors in Cave Creek (6032 E. Cave Creek Rd.), serving Southwestern eats in a rustic atmosphere.
The dinner menu includes Mexican street tacos, Sonoran crabcakes with calabacitas, green chile mac ‘n cheese, and a whole lot of meat dishes fit for a hungry cowboy — Texas-style smoked brisket, pecan-smoked St. Louis-style pork ribs, roasted tri tip, NY strip steak, carne adovada, and a half-pound green chile burger. A free taco bar is the highlight of happy hour, offered Tuesday through Friday, from 3 to 6 p.m.
Cody’s has a lot of entertainment in the mix, too. On Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, there’s live music, while Thursdays feature free standup comedy performances.
