America’s Taco Shop’s manifest destiny has turned the quaint carne asada joint into a three-location local mini-chain.
Restaurant number three opened its doors yesterday in Tempe, in a former Papa John’s building at the southwest corner of Rural and University (735 E. University).
Owner Terry Bortin tells me that the menu and hours are currently the same as the two CenPho locations (7th Street and 7th Avenue); once school is back in session at ASU, he’ll likely open earlier and stay open later to accomodate the hungry student contingent.
The Tempe spot has more parking than its sister restaurants, although there’s less seating. They’ll soon build out the current shaded patio into a 400-square-foot one. A liquor license is pending.
