What We Bought: The Old Town Market is definitely one of the best places to sample local, organic and artisanal foods. We started off by grabbing one of our most craveable market finds–Arizona Cheese Company‘s jalapeno cheese curds. While the bag will set you back $7.50, you’ll see why we keep shelling out for them after having a handful.
Another great part about the Old Town Market is the huge McClendon’s Select produce section. You can pretty much find any sort of fresh produce you’re looking for, whether it’s spigarello, pears, pumpkins or herbs. We also grabbed a bag of gluten-free pie crust mix from the GFC Bakery stand for $6.

After all of that shopping, we got pretty hungry so we started with a warm cheddar biscuit for only $1 from My Sweet Blessings Bakery. Last we decided to cool down with one of the best popsicles in town–AZ Pops‘ berry lavender lemonade popsicle ($3)–while watching the Davanti Enoteca cooking demo.
What We Skipped: Although we love a good Bloody Mary, after sampling local mix-maker Zorroz offering, we weren’t quite pulling out our wallets for the nearly $10 bottle of mix. The consistency was a bit too chunky, without much of a punch behind it. We also weren’t too interested in Zorroz’s next door neighbor, who was selling assorted canned fish and shrimp.
One thing we passed by on principle was b Naked Chocolates‘ delicious heart-shaped dark-chocolate-centered macaroons. We’re just hoping someone buys us a few for Valentine’s Day so we don’t have to buy them ourselves. Hint, hint.
What We’re Still Lusting Over: The hardest part of any market trip is what we have to leave behind. Urban Table’s super tart and tasty $12 jars of roasted lemon chutney would have given life to the beautiful greens we got at McClendon’s. The tea party ready tartes and pies from Classic Cakes and Confections were almost too cute to eat–so we didn’t… this time.
Our last lusted over, left behind item are Bonny’s Garden’s $6 garden truffles. The little earthy balls are filled with seeds for different herbs, so you just stick one in a planter and voila- you have an herb garden. We’re filing this find under future X-mas gift ideas for sure.
