It happened as swiftly as dominoes fall. Just days after the late August closing of Katz Deli, a Phoenix institution on Central Avenue, Craig and Kris DeMarco snatched up the early ’60s building and got crackin’ on their plans to turn it into a second outpost of their popular wine bar, Postino (which also happens to be in a renovated building, the historic Arcadia Post Office). For the last six months, there’s been nothing but buzz and speculation about Postino Central’s opening.

Well, now the renovation of the 2,000-square-foot building is just about finished, and the opening date’s been scheduled for March 30.

Located at the southwest corner of Central and Colter (5144 N. Central), Postino Central will feature modern living room-style indoor seating, a large bar, and a patio — a setup that’s certainly worked well for the original Postino. Similarly, the menu doesn’t mess with a good thing. It’s the same rundown of excellent salads, sandwiches, and craveworthy panini that Postino regulars already know and love: postino menu.pdf
