In 2013, Pomo Pizzeria made two big moves. After losing their space at The Borgata in Scottsdale (the entire shopping center is being demolished to make room for condos), Pomo opened a new restaurant in downtown Phoenix. Then, in October, the restaurant group relocated to an ambitious new Scottsdale location at Gainey Village that’s half pizzeria and half Italian grocery.

And the certified authentic Neapolitan pizzeria isn’t stopping there. It recently has announced plans to open a third restaurant at Heritage Marketplace in downtown Gilbert.

The new restaurant will be located at Heritage Marketplace, 366 North Gilbert Road, on the southern end cap of the building. The restaurant will face Sam Fox’s Zinburger and will be joined by a handful of other local and national restaurant concepts, including Lo-Lo’s Chicken and Waffles and Snooze, an AM Eatery.

To make authentic Napoletana-style pizzas, the restaurant will be equipped with a wood-fired brick oven hand-built by an oven maker and shipped stateside from Naples. In addition to pizzas, look for a menu of pastas, salads, soups, and panini complemented by Pomo’s signature Forno Fabbri bread.

Chef Matteo Schiavone, an native of Italy native, will oversee the kitchen.

The targeted opening date for Pomo Pizzeria in Gilbert is late fall 2014.
