How is it November and still so nice out?
Recently, I used the balmy nights as an excuse to take two pals to Petite Maison in Scottsdale. Neither had been there yet, and I got them hungry for French nibbles and wine. We sat out on the patio by the fireplace, made a meal out of many small plates, and practically adopted our darling waiter.
My friend graciously snapped this photo of the roasted bone marrow — barely in the nick of time. We’d all pounced on it, starving, before I chimed in that I needed to document the experience. I tell you, my friends are champs for putting up with me sometimes.
That marrow was ridiculously tasty on toast, but the duck rilettes disappeared just as quickly. You can tell from the bad lighting on my side of the table why I begged my friend to do most of the photography honors. (Yeah, I could’ve used flash, but I hate flash.) Anyway, rilettes on toast and a glass of pinot noir go so well with good company.
