What We Ate: Lean Cuisine Linguine Carbonara
Linguine with Bacon, Peas, Red Peppers, in a basil and parmesan sauce.
The Facts: 290 calories, 7g fat, 590g sodium
Why This One: Honestly, we grabbed this because it had bacon. You don’t see bacon too often in a Lean Cuisine. Probably because bacon just isn’t healthy. That’s why we thought this one at least had some promise of flavor.
The details after the jump.
Looks: This was not pretty. Pale flakes of bacon gave the sauce a slightly revolting pinkish hue. The red peppers were almost non-existent. At least the peas looked edible swimming in the green flecked cream sauce.
Taste: If you are a fan of bacon, you are going to dig this. Surprisingly, the noodles held up and didn’t taste like a slimy mess. The peas were actually plump and crisp and the first couple bites were really tasty. But four bites in and things started to go down hill. Eventually, the smokiness of the bacon started to get overwhelming. You literally could not escape the now artificial tasting baconess and it started to become a chore to power through the bacon flavored slop. Luckily these things are small.
Score: 3.5 out of 5 stars. We’ve had worse.
