Forks up, Phoenix! Chow Bella and Roosevelt Row present the fourth annual Pie Social from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, November 16, at the “What Should Go Here” Pop Up Park at Second Street and Roosevelt. We’ve got an all-star lineup of bakers making pies for you to taste, and from now till Pie Social, we’ll introduce them to you, one by one.

Baking has always been a part of Suzanne Gwyn’s life and in 2011, along with her husband Chris, she started her own business, Bake Goods by Suzanne.

Gwyn, who works a full-time job along with baking, attended Arizona Culinary Institute in Scottsdale. While there, she began working with Gabriele Bertaccini of iL Tocco Foods, to feature her desserts at Culinary Mischief, a bi-monthly dining event.

Gwyn specializes in Italian desserts such as semifreddo, and lemon olive oil cake infused with rosemary, but she also bakes pumpkin rolls (which have been a big hit at local swap meets) and Brazilian chocolate brigadeiro.

This is her first time participating in Pie Social. Gwyn has been preparing for the event by researching various pie flavors and asking others what flavors they enjoy, but she has decided to go with her own preference.

“I’m very happy with it,” she says.
