Taberna Mexicana, a new upscale Mexican eatery from Legacy Restaurant Group (the folks behind Houston-based Ninfa’s, which has a location in Glendale), just opened its doors a week ago in the former Roy’s location at the Scottsdale Seville (7001 N. Scottsdale Rd.).
Executive chef Alex Padilla, former executive sous chef of chef Nancy Oakes’ San Francisco eatery Boulevard, has created a menu of traditional Mexican dishes with contemporary gourmet flair, including crab enchiladas, tequila-poached shrimp cocteles, roasted quail with green pipian sauce, crispy duck carnitas-style with guajillo and green mole sauce, and filet mole tacos.
Equally intriguing are the drinks, such as the Chamomile Paloma, made with tequila, house chamomile liqueur, grapefruit, and honey.
Between the indoor dining area, lounge, and patio, Taberna seats 286, and was designed by local firm Bar Napkin Productions.
