A while back, we blogged about The Center Bistro re-opening (sans Damon Brasch) after a two year hiatus. This last Friday, the official Grand Opening Celebration re-christened this Tempe establishment. An abundance of locally-sourced and organic small bites, freshly prepared pork tacos, and delicious honeydew martinis were all on hand for the celebration.
(more on the grand re-opening after the jump)
The Center Bistro focuses on a sustainable push toward healthy, fresh bistro fare with a daily menu that averages 3-5 bucks for breakfast and around 8 bucks for lunch. Menu staples for lunch include salads and sandwiches, and seasonal, rotating entrees and street tacos. A small retail venue and in-house catering operation may also be a lure for Tempe folks looking for their own (small, crunchy granola) version of Le Grande Orange.
The breakfast menu sounds fairly standard, with burritos, b-fast sammies, and bagels, but lunch sounds a bit more adventurous (while still being easy on the wallet). The Thanksgiving sandwich sounds like a nouveau slice of holiday heaven, packed with turkey and spinach, and topped with a chili aioli. The street tacos on hand at the grand opening were decent, if not a little bit on the ordinary side. Tender shredded pork, cilantro lime crema, cojito, cabbage and a pretty solid pink salsa, will run you 7 bucks for a trio of tacos.
