James Beard Award-winning chef Robert McGrath honored his friend Chris Pischke when he took over the late restaurateur’s Old Town Scottsdale eatery, Pischke’s Paradise, and transformed it into Pischke’s Blue Ribbon last year.

But now the restaurant’s more than 20-year run is about to come to an end. In its place, McGrath will join chef Aaron May (Sol y Sombra, Over Easy) in a new enterprise, “a casual dining spot serving American food with a Texas Hill, Country-style.”

May didn’t make a peep about the location when I chatted with him a few months ago — restaurant real estate is quite the moving target — but he did acknowledge that a barbecue joint was in the works.
