Talk about tying things together. We recently blogged about former-Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch dropping a new single and about Alice Cooper’s twisted maze in Hollywood. But now we can blog about The Coop and Head at the same time. That’s because Welch is scheduled to perform Saturday, December 17, at Comerica Theatre as part of Alice Cooper’s 11th Annual Christmas Pudding show, joined by Robin Zander and Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick; magician and comedian Murray Sawchuck; Cooper’s own band, and unannounced special guests.
Welcome 2 My Pudding –cleverly named for Alice’s new record Welcome 2 My Nightmare, will also include performances by the winner of this year’s “Proof is in the Pudding” talent contest, and Iron Chef America winner, Mark Tarbell will provide the namesake dessert.
As in years past, the event benefits the Solid Rock foundation, the 501 non-profit that Alice formed with friend Chuck Savale. The foundation provides a teen center where teens will “cultivate a love of the arts to inspire and challenge teens to choose artistic excellence instead of drugs, guns, or gangs.”
Sounds good — but I think a center where Alice teaches kids how to rock like THIS would be artistically excellent.
