The Valley is getting a ton of runoff from this year’s Coachella. First it was Yeasayer and Beach House. Deer Tick and Vampire Weekend then entered the fold. Finally, Sia and Frightened Rabbit scheduled Phoenix dates around the massive festival in Indio, California. The recent announcement that Arctic Monkeys will play Tempe’s Marquee Theatre on April 15 trumps them all. The British rockers last played the Marquee in June 2006, what seems like a lifetime ago. The band has since released two new albums — Favourite Worst Nightmare and Humbug. They have plenty more to showcase since their first trip in 2006 and their last one in the Valley in 2007 — including a new bassist and all of the backlash about the insane hype that followed the band right on up to their debut album. Overhyped or not, the band can still play one hell of a set, and the Valley will be the ultimate judge of such matters come April.
Since this is such breaking news, ticket sales have yet to be announced. Keep checking this page for any new info.
