Isn’t this place supposed to be a desert?

This new weather system that is moving in promises to bring about a half-inch of rain has already done some damage. Stateside Presents announced today via a press release that the Belle & Sebastian show scheduled for Civic Space Park on Wednesday, October 8, has been moved to Orpheum Theatre due to the expected rainfall.

That makes three outdoor shows spoiled by rain. Just two weeks ago, concerts at Arcosanti and Tempe Beach Park were washed away by inclement weather.

We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.

$30,000

On one hand, we were looking forward to seeing how Civic Space Park would function as a major concert venue. On the other hand, Orpheum is a gorgeous, underused music venue, and the more shows that happen there, the better.

Ticket-holders for whom Orpheum won’t do can request a full refund by noon Wednesday. Those who purchased tickets with assigned seating will receive a $5 credit per ticket. The show at the Orpheum will be entirely general admission. The show will start at 6 p.m.
