It pissed me off so much when MGMT didn’t play their hit song “Kids” at Coachella this year, and I’m sure plenty of other people weren’t too pleased either.
Right before Coachella, MGMT released their album Congratulations, which a lot of music lovers weren’t particularly crazy about. Most of MGMT’s Coachella set was comprised of songs from Congratulations, rather than songs the crowd was familiar with, although that was understandable since they wanted to get the new album out there.
“Kids,” which came from their previous album Oracular Spectacular, was basically their first big hit. Since “Kids” was one of the first songs they wrote, they wanted to distance themselves from their early sound and move in a new direction.
Thankfully another artist has volunteered to step up to the plate. If MGMT won’t appease hipsters and just play the damn song, rapper B.o.B. will. Check out B.o.B. putting his own spin on “Kids” with a live band in the video below. He performed it at Lollapalooza this summer as well as at a slew of other gigs.

That’s not all he’s covered. After all, B.o.B.’s a busy guy. He also did a pretty tight cover of Vampire Weekend‘s “The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance” with Janelle Monae. On top of that, he put an awesome hip-hop twist on his cover of The Foundations’ “Build Me Up Buttercup” last February.
B.o.B. clearly means business with more than just mixtapes. I’ve gotta say, the man does it all.
