Well, kids, it’s been a long road of late nights, wild parties, and ridiculous conversations with drunkards. But it’s time to say goodbye because this is the last of Club Candids you will see from this writer.
Don’t worry, the lovely Adriane Goetz will continue to snap photos of unsuspecting club kids and write somewhat insulting captions from here on out.
As our last shout, we hit up our all-time favorite bar Shady’s. Now, this place may lack the glitz and glamor of many other clubs out there but it’s always been a reliable source for casual weekend boozing with enough drunken tomfoolery to keep us interested. Plus, the drinks are reasonable, the staff is snarky, the lighting is perfect, and the clientele is pretty laid-back — we’ve never had to deal with grabby-handed creepers at last call.
Not to mention, their smoking patio is where I first met my soon-to-be husband. We started chatting under the bare bulb over the trash can many moons ago. Romantic, right? (BTW, this is the night that Cizmar likes to joke was the real end of club candids for me.)

We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
Anyway, as a celebratory final Club Candids, we sipped a couple beers and snapped photos of a typical night at the best bar in town. Check the slideshow.
And, as a special treat, here are a couple links to my favorite slideshows from the past 3 1/2 years. Enjoy (I certainly did).
