Holy moly, there’s SO many shows going on this weekend. But if The Tubes, Cut Copy, The Ataris, Colorstore, or Laconic aren’t your thing (what kind of music do you like, anyway?), Up on the Sun has you covered.
Here are a few eccentric shows that may have not have popped up on your radar, from bands all over the musical map, who are eager for the attention of your ears this Friday and Saturday (there are great shows Sunday night, too, but that’s when we watch Curb Your Enthusiasm).
Friday, August 12
The Persuaders, made up of former members of The Gin Blossoms, Dead Hot Workshop, The Pistoleros, and more, share the stage with Jed’s a Millionaire, at Foundry on First. Dry River Yacht Club and Black Carl headline a huge one at The Sail Inn, with Gardens & Villa, Adam Arcuragi & The Lupine Chorale Society, and The Whisperlights. Anonymous, Fresh Pro Deuce, Savant and Shining Soul Music take part in WTFunk Fridays at The Stray Cat.

The Minibosses, Sweetbleeders, and Fathers Day bring the NES tunes, indie rock, and dad issues to Yucca Tap Room.
Saturday, August 13
Drought and Twingiant bring some heavy sludge to The Trunk Space. The Mariachi Mystery Tour brings The Beatles en Español to the Musical Mystery Museum.
Legendary Christian art-rockers Daniel Amos (yes, they rule) come to Foothills Baptist Church, 15450 S. 21 St. in Phoenix.
Hollywood Alley hosts the AZ Rollergirls bash, with loud rock ‘n’ roll from The Cosmeticators and The Pubes.
Have fun out there, and be safe, Phoenicians.
