According to the Urban Dictionary, “rug burn” is defined as “A rash or red mark on one’s body caused by the friction of one’s skin rubbing on a carpet or rug” and “The razor burn you get after shaving your crotch.”
Scottsdale’s latest dance event is also called Rugburn. And while there may or may not be people there with skinned knees and shaved crotches, there will most definitely be booty shakin’ electro beats and eclectic hip-hop/funk mashups, courtesy of renowned Valley DJs Tricky T (a protégé of DJ Z-Trip) and DJ Radar, who’s done everything from perform with a symphony at Carnegie Hall to teaching turntablism at Valley colleges.
The dance-tastic fun starts at 9 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the Effen Vodka Bar at Dirty Pretty, 7443 E. Sixth Avenue in Scottsdale. Jen Deveroux, ST3 Entertainment, and Jon Amaral will host the event. Admission is free. Visit www.dirtypretty.com for more information.
