File this one under: ‘Way too arty for most readers but pretty cool anyway.’
Garage A Trois, a four-man improvisational jazz/funk/rock combo comes to The Compound Grill on Tuesday.
The New Orleans group, which features the famous-if-you-follow-the-genre names of Skerik, Mike Dillon, Marco Benevento and Stanton Moore, just played San Francisco’s Outside Lands, and they’ve also done Bonnaroo, so they have some hipster cred, but we’re guessing the North Phoenix joint booked them more because some crazed jazz junkie on staff insisted. It’s pretty intense stuff, as you can hear for yourself below.
Tickets are 15 bones, or clams, or whatever you call them. And, since if you like this music enough to see it once you probably love it enough to see it two nights in a row, it’s worth mentioning that the group is playing Flagstaff’s Orpheum Theatre the next night.
