Grouplove: Win Tickets to the Sold-Out Show

You know, we're not sure we can trust this Grouplove band. Just say it out loud. "Grouplove." Sounds pretty hippie-ish, right? Might as well be named "Communelove," or "Socialistlove," right? You know, we’re not sure we can trust this Grouplove band.

Just say it out loud. “Grouplove.” Sounds pretty hippie-ish, right? Might as well be named “Communelove,” or “Socialistlove,” right? Anyway, beyond that, the Los Angeles-based outfit named its debut LP Never Trust a Happy Song, and it’s got songs on “Love Will Save Your Soul,” and “Itchin’ on a Photograph,” that, despite some angsty lyrics, sound kind of happy to me. Yeah, these guys are definitely suspect.

Of course, the folks are way into them. The band’s scheduled to perform Thursday, November 15, at the Crescent Ballroom, and that shit’s totally sold-out. But, we’re on it. Thanks to the folks at Warner Music Group/Atlantic, Up on the Sun has procured one pair of tickets to give away to a lucky reader. How can you get these precious tickets? Read on. It’s simple, we promise.

Your support strengthens our coverage.

We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.

$30,000

It’s really simple. Head over to Up on the Sun’s Twitter profile, @Phxmusicdotcom, and tweet @ us with your favorite happy song. Go ahead and throw a hashtag in their if you feel like it (#grouplove, #uponthesunisreallycool, #idonttrustgrouploveeitherman). Honestly, you can be sarcastic and say Nirvana’s “I Hate Myself and Wanna Die” is your favorite happy song. We won’t call you out on it.

What we do is select a winner at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, and send them a private message stating something like “You’ve won a pair of tickets to see Grouplove at Crescent Ballroom. Congrats.”

And that’s it! We can’t promise that Grouplove won’t preach some scary collectivist mantra at you, but that probably wouldn’t be that bad, right? Catchy, at least.

Grouplove is scheduled to perform Thursday, November 15, at Crescent Ballroom.
