Phoenix New Times is following the footsteps of some of our sister papers with our first ever Big Brain Awards.
What does that mean? Well, we’re seeking emerging creative types, giving them a cash award and throwing a party in their honor. It’s sort of a localized MacArthur Genius Grant designed for struggling artist types in metro Phoenix.
There are five categories: design/fashion, visual art, performing art, online media and film/video.
Finalists will be profiled in our May 20 issue, with the winners announced Saturday, May 22 at the Phoenix New Times‘ 40th anniversary party at Madcap Theaters in Tempe.
