According to NME, Jason Bonham, former drummer for Led Zeppelin and son of John Bonham, the band’s original drummer, said that Zep came close to reuniting and playing new material — without lead singer Robert Plant, that is. Apparently Bonham, along with John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page had worked together for a year, writing new material in the hopes of going on a tour.
In the end, things didn’t work out, as John Paul Jones was busy with Them Crooked Vultures and band members “agreed to disagree,” as Bonham put it. While rumors were afloat that Myles Kennedy, singer for Alter Bridge, was potentially Plant’s replacement, Bonham was more cryptic about the whole thing. He went on, “Somebody else was involved — and that’s all I’ll say. But as I said, I loved the time we had together. I can’t even explain it. It was just great.”
Don’t worry. It’s not like any of us common folk could have afforded tickets to the reunion tour anyway.
