Is Weezy sober as good as the Weezy who was getting blazed and freestyling about Al Sharpon in a 9 minute song? Now that Lil Wayne is out of jail and on probation he’s supposed to stay straight, which is bound to have an impact on his work. So is it for the better or not? Ben Westhoff tackles that question in this week’s print issue.
Meanwhile, Valley-born former American Idol contestant David Hernandez is back in town doing a show at Talking Stick casino. Hernandez, who you may remember from the controversy surrounding his reported gig at a gay strip club in town, stars in a Motown review that plays through the end of the month. Nicki Escudero didn’t ask him about Dick’s Cabaret in Glendale, but she did learn a lot of other things about the former Idol contestant.
We’ve also got previews of Rod Stewart & Stevie NicksJeff Dahl Band, The Black Keys, Fake Problems, New Pornographers, Biffy Clyro and Pinback.
