Never fear if gallery hopping all night isn’t your First Friday vibe. There’s plenty of music happening in downtown Phoenix on September 3, whether your tastes lean towards hip-hop or ’80s house music. Here’s a sampling to help you get started, and a friendly reminder to check mask requirements before you go.
Live Music
Crescent Ballroom
James McMurtry is performing at 7:30 p.m. at Crescent Ballroom, where proof of vaccination is required. General admission seating is $22 (before fees). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. At 9 p.m. The Groove Theory hosted by Zeedub + Lord Kash will do a free performance on the patio. Both events are ages 21 and up.

Last Exit Live
Roots reggae musician E.N Young will be performing at Last Exit Live. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the age 21 and up event. Online tickets are $12.50.
Luckys Indoor Outdoor
Hear The Hourglass Cats perform live on the patio from 7 to 10 p.m. as part of First Friday Jams at Lucky Indoor Outdoor.
The Van Buren
Playboy Manbaby takes to The Van Buren stage at 8 p.m. The evening also features Together Pangea, Okilly Dokilly, and Mega Ran. Tickets are $25 for the age 13 and up event.

Vinyl Sets
Copper Blues
DJ Jen Jones is bringing the vinyl love to Copper Blues, where her set kicks off at 9 p.m. Expect a mix of hip-hop pop infused with electronic dance music.
Grand Ave Records
Joseph “DJ Dimension” Mercado will be playing a vinyl set with ’80s and ’90s house music classics at Grand Ave Records from 6 to 10 p.m. He’s also be sharing his anthology that’s been remixed into a comic book. The event is free.
Valley Bar
DJ Mygodcomplex will be spinning a vinyl set filled with hip-hop, funk, soul, and neo soul at 6 p.m. at Valley Bar, where the First Friday lineup also includes Most Necessary: A 2015+ Hip Hop Party at 10 p.m. Both events are free.
