Sole, one of the founders of indie rap collective Anticon, has released a new mixtape titled Nuclear Winter Volume 2: Death Panel, and there’s a reference to Arizona.
Dubbed “rap as journalism,” Sole’s using this mixtape to make statements about various things, including the assassination of Osama Bin Laden, the economy, climate change, and (as referenced in his press release), “Arizona apartheid.”
The mixtape features contributions from the likes of Busdriver, Kool A.D. from Das Rascist, K the I???, and LuckyIAM. The idea behind Nuclear Winter Volume 2 is that Sole adapts mainstream music to create topical folk rap songs about current events.
Check out the video for “Hustle Hard” (featuring Bluebird and K the I???) from Nuclear Winter after the jump.
